No one would say that our story is pretty…
But we were in love before we hated each other.
And we were friends long before that.
Growing up, I saw Jace Zielinski every day.
He lived next door. I cheered him on at football games. I gave him advice on girls. He was my brother’s best friend and the three of us were inseparable.
I didn’t realize I’d already fallen for Jace until the hot summer night when we kissed for the first time.
Our magical season felt like destiny.
And then came the disaster that tore us all to shreds.
I lost Jace. I lost my brother. In many ways I lost myself.
Ten years later, Jace is untouchable in a world of pro athlete fame and glory.
I never wanted to see him again and I’d definitely never pick him to be my hero.
Not even when I’m broke and terrified and running for my life.
But it seems I have no choice.
Somehow we’re both back in the same place where we started.
I have nowhere else to go and Jace refuses to leave.
We’re not the same as we were. We’re not those teenagers who fell in love years ago.
That doesn’t mean we’ll keep our hands to ourselves.
If anything, I want Jace more than ever.
And we are foolish enough to repeat our own turbulent history.
Both the parts that felt crazy good.
And the parts that hurt the most.

TILL IT HURTS is a complete stand alone at 110,000 words. Expect hate banter, plot twists, scorching chemistry and all the feels of a small town romance.

Till It Hurts was about 27-year-old Victoria "Tori" Malene and 26-year-old Jacek "Jace" Zielinski, III a famous NFL quarterback.

This story was written in dual POV, with flashbacks to when the two main characters were younger and then returned to the present to deal with the issues they had left unanswered.

Tori, Jace, and Colt had been friends since Jace was six years old and had moved in with his grandmother. When they were teenagers, he and Tori shared their first kiss and fell in love. However, something happened to drive a wedge between the three of them, and ten years later they were no longer on speaking terms.

When Jace's grandmother died, ten years after the disaster hit the trio, she willed her house to all three of them, with the stipulation it could not be sold. While Colt was off living who-knows-where, Jace was a famous quarterback, and Tori had been living in San Diego. On the day of his grandmother's funeral, only Jace showed up. Unknown to him or anyone else, Tori was in the hospital recovering from an assault from her former employer. Because of that assault, Tori had become addicted to her pain medicines and also had to use prescription medicines to sleep. Another thing she had to deal with was the multiple panic attacks she suffered.

When she had time to heal enough, and the fact that she was unable to find a job after her boss ruined her reputation, Tori had no other option than to return to the town where she grew up...and to the home that her former piano teacher had left to them. Jace learned that she was taking up residence in his grandmother's home and it angered him to the point that he decided to return to Texas to deal with her...and he wasn't happy. He was looking forward to doing some emotional damage...to Tori.

In the beginning, the story had a lot of push/pull between the two main characters, with the angst and drama off the charts. It was several chapters where there weren't many scenes with Tori and Jace together. However, when they were, it was mostly exchanging angry taunts back and forth without revealing why. Each one would give hints about the falling out, but nothing was spoken directly concerning what it was.

After a few days together, Tori and Jace had a small breakthrough in their relationship. However, it was a very small truce, and while they had taken things to the next level, they still had not addressed the elephant in the room...their breakup ten years earlier and what had caused it. Jace knew that Tori had secrets she wasn't sharing, so he did something about it. The turning point in how he treated her came after he learned the truth about her time in California.

It wasn't long before some of the secrets, both past and present, started coming to light, setting them on a collision course that would ultimately define their past, present, and future. Not all secrets were revealed, mind you. Those regarding Tori and Jace were resolved, but there were still those that surrounded Colt, Tori's brother, that won't be revealed until the next book, which is called Till Next Time. However, things were resolved in ways that were not only gut-wrenching but with little to no push/pull between the two main characters. Once they reconnected, they were both all in.

Both main characters were well-developed and mature, with plenty of room for growth, and they did show growth. There weren't too many supporting characters in the book, but those who made an appearance were rooting for each one of them.

While there were some minor grammatical errors in the story, they weren't enough to distract from the flow of the book. The emotional rollercoaster had its usual twists and turns, but they were soft and easy to handle. I gave the book a four-star rating, simply because it could have been better without so much repetition. Other than that, it was a great story to read. I'm moving on to the next book about Colt.

Cute story. Loved the characters, although I did feel sorry for her brother. (maybe that's another book?). Glad they were put back together!
