Loved the book, definitely deals with sensitive topics and triggers. I just wish it showed Penny as someone who was stronger.

Tortured Knight fights his demons following his release as a prisoner held captive for 6months. This book had dark undertones and triggers for those sensitive to scenes of torture. Little explanation as to why Knight was captured is not revealed and would have helped with the storyline. Knight is fighting his trauma and takes it out on Penny to the point it so frustrating you question why she puts up with his harsh treatment. Penny is a doormat and becomes Knights punching bag too many times that you lose faith she will have the strength to walk away. Even though she loves him deeply she does stand her ground and Knight eventually reveals his true feelings. A rollercoaster of emotions and teary at times but you feel like shaking Penny to grow a backbone. Twist at the end was a surprise and leads story down another a path which eventually provides the HEA. BDSM a little over the top with the Dom and Sub scenes and drags on at times especially on how long a read this book was. The 7 and their wives provide some relief with Abby and Cade making an appearance and Gio and Rick provide a segue into the next book. Tortured romance with lots of ups and downs be prepared for a dragged out romance with dark undertones.
