Maddie Goldbloom stitched up a plan to ensure everything in her life was perfect—from a career in fashion to a chic NYC apartment to a pediatrician boyfriend.
When her ex, Chase Black, storms back into her life with an outrageous request, her immediate reaction is to refuse him. But he only wants to fulfill his father’s last wish. So even though he’s the man who broke her heart, playing his fiancée shouldn’t be hard, especially if it means she gets to watch the arrogant devil squirm a bit.
What ensues is a chain of events that detonates Maddie’s life—and when Chase’s walls come down, they both are forced to face reality.
They say keep your enemies close. But what if your enemy is also the man you love?

It's clichéd, predictable and yet beautifully and masterfully written.

Since most of her stories are dark and heavy, this was a nice change, with a bit more levity in it. Oh, it still had it's dark overtones but not too much. This was a nice change of pace!

It got redundant; same series of events, same conversations over and over. The humor was good, I'll give it that. very reminiscent of that sitcom 'You're the worst' The downside: She was a doormat and even her version of standing up for herself, continued to be a doormat. ' I don't accept the way you treat me and I want you to go away and let me heal." then jumps right back into the same cycle when he needs her to play the role again that weekend. "You have to stop bullying me' to the mean-girl intern who gets fired for bullying her---then she pleads to get the girls job back because she doesnt want it on her conscience. Why?? That girl was behaving extremely unprofessionally and should have been fired. How are her choices on your conscience? too goody goody. Hard to critique him because she wrote him to be a bastard and he delivered. Didn't like him constantly insulting her in his internal dialogue. He belittled her so often its kind of hard to accept when he starts falling for her.

Maddie was cruel to Easton--accidentally yes, but she used the guy as an emotional tampon when she had no serious intent with him. He and clemmy were the real victims here, they were just pushed around by everyone's else's lives and whims and you really felt badly for them :/

Corrections: 1: Maddie did not plead to get her job back, she was angry and put the girl in her place, and gave her a second chance, she told chase to let her keep her job 2: Ethan very much put him in that spot, both Maddie and Ethan knew the relationship wouldn't have worked, Maddie tried to warn him, but he kept ignoring, waiting, she should have apologized still, AND SHE DID, she did not use him as an emotional tampon, even if she did Ethan WELCOMED it, he was very desperate 3: in the beginning chase insults only her fashion and style tastes, you notice those comments disappear with time, you'd think Chase telling Maddie to keep the og wedding dress she designed, and buying it for their wedding would let the reader's know that obviously he loves her being her, plus Katie tells Maddie that his comments are his version of "pulling her pigtails" Guys it's called "the devil wears black" obviously he's a jerk that is redeemed throughout the story, why do u click on a book that hints he's going to be an asshole if that's not what you like?

              Ethan, not Easton. Autocorrect fail.
