I never figured I’d end up here.

Going from a loving childhood to living on the streets wasn’t part of the plan. But all the plans I had disappeared in smoke and fire. I trusted someone I shouldn’t, and in the end, being on the streets was better than the alternative. I had to keep moving, keep out of sight, if I wanted to stay alive. I got good at hiding. At least until he showed up and saved me.
I knew better than to get involved. I should’ve minded my own business. I had my own stuff to deal with. But when I heard someone threaten the handsome Russian who saved my life, I took a risk to give him a warning. Now, I’m being hunted not only by my own past, but by the dangerous mobsters who wanted to hurt my savior. I should run, put as much space between myself and these strangers who only brought me more trouble. But he’s determined to protect me, even from myself. And I can’t help but wonder, are there some things worth the risk… or am I doomed to run for the rest of my life?
