Pleasing Mr. Parker by Elle Nicoll
“You are mine, Sweetheart. You were always going to be mine.”
?????
They say don’t mix business with pleasure. But I bet they never had to work with Griffin Parker.
He headhunts me to manage the spa in his iconic New York hotel,
The Songbird.
It’s a dream opportunity.
But he’s a nightmare in a designer suit.
We clash spectacularly when he refuses to give up control.
He doesn’t trust me. I don’t like him.
Until one day we manage to work together, and an idea grows wings.
And the things he says…
Oh, God.
I’ve spent my life fighting back against the repercussions of pleasing other people. Yet, I find myself doing exactly that.
Because when Mr. Parker is pleased with you the rest of the world drifts away.
He tells me I belong to him. But he doesn’t tell me if I will survive him.
No one can tell me that.
He didn’t get to be one of the most powerful businessmen in New York easily.
He has enemies.
I’m flying straight into a storm.
And I don’t even want to stop myself.

wow this book is really good couldn't get enough of it
Oh she pleased Mr. Parker alright😏 but what did she get in return😒. In nutshell, MC was controlling, sex scenes were way too intense for me, although FC stood up for herself but lost all her control when it came to sex( and then would regret it🤨), communication was bad and they would just start arguing with each other or end up doing.... Do I need to write anymore?
This story was...okay. Not the best I've ever read, but not the worst either. For a man who was supposed to be "brilliant", Griffin Parker showed a considerable lack of intelligence throughout the story. If a man is considered intelligent by his facination with his...errr...yeah, then Mr. Parker was definitely "down there intelligent." 90% of the story was about sex and Griffin's insecurities (translate that to inability to trust). The book was too long, too focused on Maria and Griffin spending time in bed (or having sex, since most of it was had OUT of bed), and Maria fighting to do her job without his interference. There was way too much fluff N stuff and not enoough substance. When crap finally hit the fan...the book was almost over and there was not enough grovel to make up for what Griffin put Maria through for him to be even close to redeeming himself. Maria, on the other hand, forgave him way too fast. She didn't deserve any of the crap he dished out to her...and yet, she still put him first when her life exploded around her. If the book had been cut in half and more focus was placed on Griffin's efforts to right his wrongs...with him spending more time groveling and having to make an effort to win her back, it would have made for a much higher rated story. As it is...it barely rates three stars.
Let me add a rant that takes away a star, bringing it down to only two stars: What pissed me off the most about this story is the fact that the author, who went to great lengths to point out Griffin's inability to trust people, seemed to forget that little nugget when he finally learned who the TRUE culprit was. The ONE person who all but destroyed the life and livelihood of the woman he supposedly loved...the very person who tried to tear apart Griffin's own future, didn't get a damned thing done to them. Oh, there was definitely forgiveness for that person from Griffin, there was the financial support when that person's illegal activities were revealed and that person went nuts...Griffin had NO issue in stepping in to offer his trust and support (both before, during, and after the revelations)...and yet, he couldn't trust the ONE person he was supposed to love?! He FORGAVE, SUPPORTED, and TRUSTED the real culprit who framed HIS LOVE?! And Maria, who was 100% innocent in all of this...was just supposed to forgive and forget after only a few months? The man she loved had turned his back on her without hesitation, supported the person who set her up...and then he wanted her to just...take him back...and she DID with little to no hesitation?! Okay, so he made some drastic changes in his life. That was all he needed to do to regain HER trust?! After what he put her through?! She was not only vilified in the papers, but she had a police record (hopefully expunged due to the evidence she provided proving her innocence), her career suffered, she lost her job, she had been accused of trying to kill someone, she had fled the country, and had to shut out the world, in order to TRY to survive his betrayal. THAT'S not something you can just blow off after a few months of separation. And yet, the author just...let the real culprit slide by with less than a slap on the wrist...and Griffin's support. No. Just...NO!
So good
Good!
