My life in Cypress Valley is perfect… predictable, routine.
Until a five-foot-two spitfire of a woman shows up to throw a wrench in it.
Sydney Fields.
One whiff of her sweet gardenia scent tells my bear everything he needs to know.
She’s our mate.
I shouldn’t want her, even though I do.
She’s twelve years younger than me and my friend’s little sister. Not to mention she’s only here temporarily.
Her week-long visit turns into a month, but is that enough time to slay the demons of my past and get her to fall in love with me? Or will she take my broken heart with her when she leaves?

Sydney
I came to Cypress Valley for an escape.
A break from the monotony that is my life.
I didn’t expect to be knocking on the grumpy alpha’s door, begging for a place to stay.
He acts like he can’t stand me, but I manage to wiggle my way under his skin.
And into his heart.
I’m drawn to him by an inexplicable magnetism, as he consumes my every thought.
But will he remain stuck in the past, unable to grab on to the happiness he deserves?
Or will he ask me to stay and be mine to keep?

***My Bear to Keep is the second installment in the Cypress Valley Shifters series. It is a standalone, however, I do recommend reading the series in order for a better overall understanding of character dynamics and world-building. As always, please check the trigger warnings at the front of the book before reading.

I don't know how close i was to the end of the book but I stopped reading it after she forgave him...again. This book had potential to be hot but everytime he withdrew himself and hurt her, it took a piece of the romance away and the sex scenes became unbelievable, as in confusing. In certain parts of it, there's heavy sexual tension but then you add the trauma and it feels like you're reading a different character. 2/5
