When I was a little girl, my mother used to tell me everything would be okay. Scary movie? Don’t worry, it gets better. You believe monsters are under your bed? Don’t worry, daddy will slay them. But what happens when you grow up and your mother is no longer there to reassure you? Or your father can’t be at your side to fight your battles with you? What do you do when you’re all alone?
As I sit in this cell, I think about all of the moments in my life that I’ve been afraid. Every time I would jump or let fear determine my actions. I reflect on just how many of those times he got to me and made the nightmare so much worse.
With the men I love now gone from the world, there is nowhere left to turn. Not all of us survived that battle, and I don’t think there are enough left to keep waging a war. So, what’s a girl to do?
He calls me Little Warrior, so maybe that’s who I need to be. A warrior on a mission to take down the league that trained me.
He’s the villain in my story, but I’m determined to make sure he won’t be the villain to anyone else.
