Just a heads up for potential readers. This series should be (and needs to be) read in order. Otherwise, there are spoilers in each book for the previous story.

Her Covert Protector, Book 4 of the Rogue Protectors series, was about 42-year-old CIA agent "John" Garrison, AKA Jacob Mason, and 32-year-old Nadia Powell, AKA Natasha Skoryk, an LAPD crime analyst. Although this story started with a spicy scene that took place after the covert teams got separated in Book 2 (after which he told her it was a "one and done" between them), it then picked up 3 weeks after the ending of Book 3 after John asked for her father's help in saving the lives of Charly and Antonio. John had all but cut Nadia out of his life. The only thing he did was ensure she and her father were safe and to get any intel she came up with...but he got that info from others on his team rather than straight from her. John put the entire country between him and Nadia by staying on the East Coast while she lived on the West Coast. Once John's boss told him about a new threat via a potential cyber attack, he knew he would have to return to LA...and get Nadia to help him since it was her forte. When things didn't go their way, they ended up having more spicy scenes before John had to go away again. Only this time, he was talking about maybe having a relationship with Nadia when he got back. Except, again, things went south and he didn't make it back when he said he would. Fourteen days passed before John returned to LA. Once again, this story was full of angst and drama that were OTT, but in a good way. The suspense/crimes/mysteries were interesting, although the author overdid the lingo again for those of us who aren't well-versed in FBI/CIA/police acronyms and wording. Still, it made for a good, albeit long, read. As always, the emotional rollercoaster was full of twists and turns, but this time with a lot of added fluff n stuff that was completely unnecessary. The storyline and plot were good enough to keep the reader glued to their seat, although the length tried this particular reader's patience. The characters from the previous books showed up, with a lot of newbies added in as well to round out the cast. The two main characters were well-rounded, fully fleshed out, and mature, with lots of room for growth, which was shown on-page. The book was good enough to earn a four-star rating. It just needed to eliminate the fluffy parts to earn anything higher. Looking forward to the fifth and final book of the series.
