I never imagined my step dad’s brother would be all those things for me. Finn I expect to show up at a friend’s party to let off some steam, not stumble upon the most perfect pet I’ve ever seen.
Beautiful and graceful, I can’t take my eyes off of him. As he flaps his wings and steps inside a bird cage, my breath catches in my throat. I couldn’t get what I needed from any of the pups or kittens I played with and now I understand why. I was always meant to have someone who could not only run, but also fly into my arms.
Not just anyone. Him.
The moment he takes off his mask is when everything gets more complicated. Not only will I have to convince my beautiful bird to be mine, but I’ll also have to convince my step uncle—because as it turns out, they’re one and the same.
Everyone will say it’s wrong, but whenever I look at Theo, all I see is right. He’s been hurt before and I never understood why his heartbreak called to me so much. I want to be the one to mend the pieces back together. And I will be. No matter how long it takes, I will help heal his broken wings so he can touch the sky again.
