Arsène Corbin does not intend to marry for love. His fiancée has always been a means to an end, a woman he wants to conquer. But when she dies suddenly in an accident, Arsène’s grand plan unravels.
Still reeling from his fiancée’s death, he meets Winnifred Ashcroft, a struggling actress who lands a coveted role in a play at his theater…and knows things about his late fiancée no one else does. The only problem? They can’t stand each other.
Backstage at Arsène’s theater, Winnie begins to let down her guard around the tempestuous billionaire. She appreciates his wit and quirky affection for astronomy. And Arsène, jaded as he is, respects Winnie’s headstrong personality.
Tragedy and betrayal bring them together, but will their painful pasts hold them back—or fuel their desire?

Soooo a lot is happening in a long period of time so it is a real slow burn BUT it burns hot! The books is very well worded and long enough to be a 8 episode Netflix special and you may get inpatient with the plot buuut all the times the MCs are talking and interacting is just chefs kisses so romantic and entertaining and it feels real.

You guys HELP!!…. I want to find a book I just can’t remember the title. It’s about two best friends that apparently they’re in love with each other, they get together and all but the FMC has a stepsister and tricks the MMC to think that he had sex with her and the FMC leaves for about 10 years and they find each other in a bar, have bathroom sex etc… If you happen to find it or know it let me know. Please!!!

A good and sad story, wrapped around two characters dealing with their partner's death and discovered infidelities. The writer took a long route building up the mmc's relationship with his partner and we aren't given quite as much background with the fmc and her spouse's relationship. But honestly, this was a no-go for me in terms of romance. She brings them together and I never really believe they love each other, they don't have any chemistry together other than their verbal arguments. The plot around coming to terms with their grief and revelations about their previous relationships kept me around long enough to finish the book. Him falling for her felt forced into the story.
