Book 0.5, or better known as the Prequel to the Rescued from Ruin series was a fabulous beginning to this series. Annabelle Huxley had been in love with Robert Conrad pretty much all her life. She followed him and her brother everywhere, much to the vexation of her brother, John. As a child, she would get into one scrape after another, only for Robert to come to her rescue time after time...until one day when she was 13 and he was 18. There was a horrible accident that tore them apart. Seven long years later, Robert's grandfather sent him to London to find a wife. Not long after arriving, he saw a greatly changed Annabelle. What he quickly realized was that, although she was much changed, her inclination for getting into scrapes had not. There was a great deal of angst in this book, a lot of heartaches and pain. However, there was also a tremendous amount of chemistry between the two main characters...a bond that stretched throughout their lives that no one could explain. The drama was thick but there was also a good balance of humor as well. The passion between the two main characters was hot. The storyline was a bit different than many of the novels I've read lately and that was a nice change. This book definitely found a place with the Keeper for the Shelves books.
