VAL
When I was nine, I went to my first funeral. Along with accepting my father’s death, I had to accept new and awful truths I wasn’t prepared for.
When I was nineteen, I went to my mother’s funeral. We weren’t close, but with her gone, I became more alone than ever before.
Sure, I have a half-brother who runs The Alliance. And yeah, he’s given me his protection – in the form of a bodyguard and chauffer. But I don’t have anyone that really knows me. No one to really love me.
Until I meet him. The man in the airport.
And when one chance meeting turns into something hotter, something more serious, I let myself believe that maybe he’s the one. Maybe this man is the one who will finally save me from my loneliness. The one to give me the family I’ve always craved.

DOM
The mafia is in my blood. It’s what I do.
So when that blood is spilled and one funeral turns into three, drastic measures need to be taken.
And when this battle turns into a war, I’m going to need more men. More power.
I’m going to need The Alliance.
And I’ll become a member. By any means necessary.

Too long, weak fmc even tho I did like her. I didn't like dom, he was manipulative, lied to her, used her, and I couldn't get past him switching her pills out so she "wouldn't leave him". And he just seemed like a really weak mafia boss to.

I still stick to the fact that book one was by far better. The fmc is innocently selfish makes everything about her so weak and cries all the time idk let’s hope book 4 is something

I'm thinking of a 3.5 star but they dint have that option so 4 it is, that too only 3 things : 1) spice, 2) the trauma and sadness of the fmc, 3) the fact that I personally love breeding (forceful, deceitful, or otherwise). The story was pretty typical. The same luring, deceptional marriage, the lies, the heartbreak over betrayal from someone trusted. But what I absolutely HATED was how he was so unapologetic about hurting her. I understand that his character was one who planned for his actions and wasn't sorry about those. But he planned for using her to get what he wanted. He didn't "plan" to hurt her, only assumed there'd be normal repercussions. But yet, when he realized she was hurting, he didn't apologize. Too less groveling on his part. As for the fact, HOW COULD SHE GIVE IN THAT EASILY??? like no self harm trying to erase the tattoo ? No silent tears for days? No silent treatment? Yeah 3.5 it is

I loved everything about this book. Dom is sexy. I loved Val. She had struggles growing up and you could tell how those affected her as an adult. It's sexy and dangerous. Must read.

Dom manipulated, lied shouldered and cheated his way into Val's life to get into the damn "Alliance" and broke little Val's heart, 'cause in his plans he didn't take into account how fragile Val is and Val's reaction to finding out the truth reads as a complete breakdown and disassociation...girl completely shutdown but a couple of chapters laterally is seemingly hunky dory and Val is suddenly "understanding" why dom did what he did but no no don't worry she's still a "little mad" at him.

Yeah cmon now...men don't beg for forgiveness anymore, men don't grovel like SERIOUSLY? Making the fmc fragile, have a shot self-esteem, insecure and lonely fall in love with the much much older guy and make her deluded into thinking she's finally found a family only to snatch that away from her was a good premise ig...but I just stopped reading when it started to look like Dom wasn't to apologize for using her so badly and it'll be accepted and forgiven fact and moved on just as quickly.

                Lol nah.
