Emersyn Daws is driving me crazy, has been for months. As soon as we met I knew I needed her by my side, soothing my ragged edges with her thick curves and sweet smile. Every time she walks past me, especially in one of her tight pencil skirts, I’m like a dog chasing after a bone. She was into me too, at first, then something changed and now she wants nothing to do with me. Every once in a while I catch her staring and right before she turns away our eyes connect and I feel the connection I felt the first moment I saw her. She’s going to be mine, no matter what.

Decking Her Halls, one of the books in the A Filthy Dirty Christmas series, was about Emersyn Daws, an account representative for Stone Lumber, and Cohen Stone, the youngest son of the owner of Stone Lumber. The first time Cohen laid eyes on Emersyn he knew she was The One for him. For a while, it seemed like she felt the same, but then she suddenly turned a cold shoulder to him without ever telling him why. After getting some much-needed advice from his older brother, C.J. (the Hero from Mr. Serious), Cohen went on an all-out, no-holds-barred effort to win her over. But every time he tried to reach her, something always went wrong. While this was just a micro-short story, it still felt like it was incomplete, plus it didn't really have anything to do with the holiday, which was confusing...or did I read the wrong story? No, there was nothing Christmasy about it. The novella also felt like it ended on a cliffhanger. It just...stopped. There was no epilogue, no true HEA, or even an HFN, honestly. It just hit a brick wall without warning and died an immediate death. I looked...but sadly, I didn't see a second story to pick up where this shut off. It had such potential to be a really good book. Alas, it wasn't to be. There were at least two issues that never got resolved, leaving the reader to tilt their head and say, "HUH?!". I wanted more, to be honest. I wanted a bit more backstory on the two main characters. I wanted more interaction between them. I wanted to SEE the push/pull between them played out on the pages. I wanted a bit more of the spiciness it promised. It just fell...flat on its face, breaking a nose in the process. It was such a disappointment that I could only give it a one-star rating.

Just a small update to my review. This version of the story only had 4 chapters, when there were really 6 chapters AND an epilogue, so the above review was given without having read the true ending of the story. I even upped the star rating to a four.
