Total control. I need it in every aspect of my life. Some would say that makes me an asshole. A freak. But as long as everything’s exactly how I want it, I’m completely flexible.
I’m kidding.
Okay, I’m not kidding.
Lacey needs someone in her life who’s bigger and scarier than her demons, and she wants that man to be me. Her boss. The Viking in a suit.
I hope she understands what she’s getting into. This daddy isn’t going to pat her on the head and tell her she’s a good girl for nothing. Especially not when she’s spinning out of control.

Author’s note: this book contains depictions of eating disorder recovery.

Spoiler Alert: If you're looking for a sweet romance, this is NOT that book. Control Freak is ALL about how to help a young woman who was a recovering anorexic live her life and deal with the disease. Yes, there was romance, BUT it was a romance based on living with a recovering anorexic and what she dealt with on a minute-by-minute basis. If you can deal with that, you'll like this book. It is HEAVILY focused on the disease and less on the romance. The romance may have been muted, but it was still there. It was a VERY emotional read, and it felt more like a "how-to" book or a journal on how to live with a recovering anorexic than a romance novel. So, be forewarned. It was not an easy book to read.

Control Freak was about 24-year-old college student, Lacey Petrou and her 39-year-old temporary boss, Stian Blomqvist, owner and director of a London museum. Lacey was hired by Stian as a temporary personal assistant at his museum because he had just fired his permanent PA. She was only going to work for him for three months because she would then return to college where she was working towards her Master's Degree. Their first meeting was less than auspicious and their second meeting wasn't much better. However, she got the job and things were going well. She was going to therapy every week to talk about her recovery process. However, she still had issues she struggled with. When the relationship between boss and employee took a more romantic slant, the BDSM aspect tended to help center Lacey and gave her a better focus on her recovery. But the anorexic voice still took charge whenever some new aspect of their relationship showed up. This book was highly charged with angst, fear, and hopelessness. Hope, love, and passion all struggled to survive in the clutches of the disease that the FMC struggled with, and the MMC was determined to stay by her side and help her at every turn. There was very little humor to help ease the tension of the book, and it was difficult to read it all the way to the end. It was so intense at times, that I had to set it down and walk away, and I almost didn't finish it because it was so heavy to read. If you can handle the issues of this book, which were prevalent from start to finish, you'll find out not only how to interact with a recovering anorexic, but you'll be rooting for the couple and their HEA. It was a story worthy of a five-star rating.

While i didn't much enjoy their romance, she did a good job depicting someone struggling to recover from an eating disorder. There's a few points where you sort of want to hug the poor girl and tell her it's going to be ok.
