My world shattered when I walked in on the sickening sight of my husband and sister, naked, entwined in a betrayal that cut through me like broken glass. Their vile desire unfolded, a sickening tableau of warped lust. To make it worse, she claimed to be pregnant with his child, another layer to the knife twisting in my gut.
I bolted from that wretched scene, fuelled by disgust. I wanted no part in their deceit, their sick union. Their stench clung to me like a curse, propelling me into the shadows of a small town, leaving behind the ruins of a life now destroyed.

She’s mine. I was the first to claim her, to etch every inch of her into the fabric of my being. Nobody else should even think about touching her. Did she seriously believe she could slip away? Even in death, I’ll haunt her. I’ll track her down, show her how I am the only one for her. Every truth she thought she knew was a lie. My body only reacts to her, and I’ll make sure she knows that.
The more she tries to escape, the tighter my grip becomes. A predator, I’ll stalk her like prey, waiting for the right moment to strike. Every move she makes, every breath she takes, I’ll be there, lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce and reclaim her.
And let anyone try to hurt what’s mine – they’ll see just how far I’ll go to protect what I claim. I won’t rest until she’s back where she belongs – with me, and only me.

Apparently, this was the first book the author had written. It's a short story but all in all was good. The storyline had you from the beginning and I read it within a few hours.

Consumed by Darkness was about Luna Petrov, a baker, and her husband, Adrik Petrov, an "entrepreneur", Bratva boss.

Trigger Warnings: Sedative Use/ Drugging, Stalking, Violence, Killing, Dub-con, Gun use, Blood play, Chasing Kink, Mentions of Torture, and the Mentions of Infertility.

The drama began a year into their marriage with the opening scene of Luna's husband in bed with her younger sister, Elena, and what looked to be his apparent infidelity. With her sister awake and silently, but physically she was kissing Luna's husband in front of her rubbing the affair in, Luna turned away and left their home behind. She decided to go as far away as she could, to a place he would, hopefully, never find her.

When Adrik woke to the sight of his sister-in-law snuggling up to him, he was not only confused, but disgusted as well. He had no memory of anything past her arriving at his home to wait for his wife to arrive so they could spend time together. She had made tea for the two of them, but that was the last of his memories until he woke up beside her. While she confessed the truth regarding the situation, she also gloated that her sister believed he had betrayed her and fled.

It didn't take Adrik long to find his wife. At first, it wasn't easy to convince her of his fidelity. She fought him tooth and nail. There was a spicy scene after the fight, then when morning came, so did a ton of messages from Elena to Luna, some that broke her yet again. One of the more devastating things Elena said was that Adrik had lied to her regarding his profession and that she could provide her with proof of his duplicity.

As Luna followed her sister's instructions on how to find out the truth, she hadn't been prepared for what she found. Nor had she expected Elena to show up as well, further shoving the knife into the wound she had so cruelly inflicted. When her sister told her more lies and said she would help her leave her husband, Luna didn't hesitate to accept the escape.

Two months later, Luna was hiding in a small mountain town where she opened her bakery shop under a fake identity. During her absence, Adrik had learned many of Elena's secret plots to destroy his marriage to Luna. He set about finding his wife before dealing with his sister-in-law.

There was plenty of angst and drama in this story. The emotional rollercoaster was in full force as well with its twists and turns. However, the push/pull and conflict were out of proportion to the rest of the book. They were definitely OTT and, at times, quite unnecessary. The lack of trust between the two main characters was apparent by how quick they were to doubt each other.

The maturity of the FMC and the MMC was questionable because of how they let their emotions rule them. The way they treated each other was asinine most of the time. They needed more development in order to be believable. Even the secondary characters needed more work

The book's writing made it feel as if the author's first language was not English. Some words that needed to be in place were dropped, making the sentence senseless. Others were inserted that didn't fit, and then even more grammatical errors made for a difficult reading. There was also the name change of one of the secondary characters. The author started off calling him Samuel, but then the next time he was mentioned, his name had changed to Simon.

With all of the things wrong with this story, I could only give it a three-star rating. It was just a bit too bland to hold the reader's interest for long, and it won't be memorable enough to pique the reader's interest in the future.
