Confessing to the CEO by Iona Rose
Scarlett
I haven’t pretended to be my twin in years, not since we were kids, oh, and once in college.
We looked more alike then, and it was easy and fun to fool everyone. Now we’re adults and chalk and cheese in appearance, temperament, and character, but my sister needs me to cover for her at work while she heals from a broken heart.
And there is no way I’m saying no to her when she is this down and out.
Won’t your boss notice?” I ask her.
“Not even if you arrived in a bikini,” she assures me.
So I agree to pretend to be her.
Reluctantly, I also agree to drown myself in her insipid clothes, and take her place as PA to her charmless, saintly boss, Lucien Montgomery.
Well, her description made him seem quite charmless and he did sound that way on the phone too, but I’m in for a rude shock when I meet him in person. My sister never said he had the kind of looks you read about in a fantasy romance novel. Tall, broad and dashing. Hell, the man is like a live panther, with blazing blue eyes that miss nothing.
I’ve only just got here and I’m already asking myself, how long can I carry on with this pretense?
Not long… especially considering I’m not wearing a bikini, but he’s very clearly noticing all kinds of unsaintly things about my body.

Intense and emotional. Always interesting to read a twin swap romance. But it pushed the boundaries of believability a little seeing that Scarlett had different hair and had some differences to her appearance to her sister that could be picked out. The romance was instant and built in 2 days and felt too quick but played out well. Chemistry was hot and Lucien’s broody manner added to the rollercoaster of emotions between the two MCs. Felt stilted in parts as Lucien was quite reserved in his demeanour but this added to the angst between him and Scarlett and the turmoil of their relationship. Scarlett’s guilt of deceiving Lucien ate away at her, her anxiety and pain was palpable and raw and added to a few teary moments. Scarlett’s strength came through at the end and Lucien’s love was given free rein to express himself to Scarlett. Nice ending but wanted more as it needed a little more depth. A few inconsistencies throughout the story which needed better proofing with timelines. Also the little drama with a business associated could have been developed better to add to the storyline. Still a good read with some deep emotional moments.
