A Kiss from a Rogue by Elisa Braden
The final, breathtaking novel in Elisa Braden’s Rescued from Ruin series is the story readers have been clamoring for: Fragile yet unbroken, Hannah Gray is embarking on a husband hunt … if only Lady Wallingham hadn’t invited a wolf to the party.
All she wants is an ordinary life
A cruel past left Hannah Gray with one simple longing—normalcy. Normal ladies ride and waltz without fear. They have safe, normal husbands to give them safe, normal kisses. After years of healing, she’s ready to find “normal” for herself, and Lady Wallingham’s house party is the perfect place to begin. Perfect, that is, except for the cynical wolf-in-rogue’s-clothing whose every hungry glance threatens to crack her armor and pierce her fragile heart.
All he wants is to forget her
Bow Street runner Jonas Hawthorn vowed never to see the cold, haughty Miss Gray again. A year ago, he nearly died trying to protect her, only to be dismissed like a lowly servant. But soon, he’ll have land and servants of his own. He just has to locate an old dowager’s stolen goods, collect his prize, and avoid the beauty who haunts him like a moonlit sky.
All it takes is a single kiss
He never meant to touch her. She never meant to reveal the truth. But once he’s tasted the heat and longing hidden beneath her icy mask, the only mystery this Bow Street man burns to solve is how a roguish wolf might win the elusive Miss Gray for himself.

A Kiss from a Rogue, Book 9 of the Rescued from Ruin series, was about Miss Hannah Gray, half-sister to Lord Phineas Brand, the Earl of Holstoke, and Bow Street runner Jonas Bartholomew Hawthorn. Hannah, having been stolen as a child and raised by a criminal who was in cahoots with her half-brother's evil mother, had been living with the Earl for the past 7 years. Still troubled by the memories of the past, the only thing she craved was normalcy, which she feared she would never know. Her brother's new wife, Genie, was determined to help her not only overcome the pain and fear of the past but also find happiness with a husband and children of her own. Having me Jonas the year before when he and others saved her and Genie from the clutches of some deranged men, she had all but pushed him away, even though he was never far from her thoughts. When Genie and Lady Wallingham secretly joined forces, Lady Wallingham deciding to throw a house party in order to assist Hannah in finding a husband. With Genie's suggestion the Dowager Marchioness invented a ruse to invite Jonas as well. To say that the two main characters both showed a great deal of jealousy any time a member of the opposite sex appeared the least bit of interest in the other would be putting it mildly. Whilst they hid their feelings from each other, Hannah didn't like it when Jonas appeared to flirt with other women, nor did he like it when other men showed undo attention to Hannah. The humor in this story was definitely off the charts. The hilarity of the situation was stupendous and kept the reader quite entertained. Even at the most heart-rending moments, the humor was there to keep it from getting too heavy. The drama and angst that filled this story were quite different from those in the previous books of the series for they weren't formed because of the danger that was apparent in all the others but, instead, because of the past treatment of Hannah from the villain in all culminating to answer the questions regarding what happened to her throughout the series. The emotions that filled the pages of this book were paramount. If the reader did not pay attention at any given moment to a specific emotion while reading, then said reader could get lost in the storyline and not know what was about to happen or, indeed, what had just occurred. The passion and chemistry between the two main characters were never in question, but how they dealt with it kept the reader glued to the pages. The intrigue of the book was fascinating as well. I have to say, though, the danger that came was a bit of a letdown when it came to a head. One would think there should have been a bit more drama but, it was at that moment it was almost a bore to read. Nothing heart-pounding about it at all. This was a very good ending to a very good series. While it had its ups and downs, it was well deserving of a five-star rating and to be added to the Keeper for the Shelves collection.
