Normally, everyone likes Cameron. As the General Manager of The Tap Tavern, he’s protective, empathetic, and considerate of his employees and their needs. Especially those who’ve come in through the Takoda Career Center.
Indie knows betrayal. He’s lived with the consequences and survived. Everyone else might see Cameron as some knight in shining armor, but they don’t see him like Indie does. They haven’t known him as long, either. Where was this hero when Indie’s father tossed him aside?
Cameron can’t make up for what he didn’t know, and he’s weary of taking someone else under his wing for them to not need him anymore. But…there’s something different about Indie now that he’s all grown up. Something that calls to him. The younger man’s hurt lurks behind the defiance he wears like armor, and Cameron longs to soothe it.
