A Baby to Bind His Bride, Book 37 of the One Night With Consequences series, was about Susannah Betancur, AKA the Widow Betancur, and her presumed-dead husband, billionaire CEO Leonidas Betancur. Abandoned and presumed widowed four years earlier when her husband's plane had crashed on what was her wedding day, Susannah was not convinced that Leonidas was dead. She had hired private investigators to search the wilds of Idaho for her missing husband...and found him. However, the man no longer remembered her for he suffered from amnesia, living with a cult he had become the leader of believed him to be a "god" and known as "The Count". But the moment he kissed her for the first time in four years, his memory returned in a flash. After returning to the real world, Leonidas realized he still had problems that needed to be dealt with, and when Susannah told him she wanted to be free of him, his family, and his company, he told her of the issues he was dealing with and talked her into staying long enough to help him reacclimate to society and his position as CEO of his company, and then he would agree to let her go...only to learn a few weeks later that she was pregnant. Then their worlds changed again. The storyline was a bit awkward and a touch unbelievable. The angst and drama were out of proportion, while the other emotions were, at best, all over the place and inconsequential. The chemistry and passion between Susannah and Leonidas were a touch too much. They had been virtual strangers when they married, and the four years apart didn't help them get to know one another. When he returned to take up his place in the real world, they rarely spoke or did anything together, so where did all this "relationship" stem from? The author really didn't expound on that. Their time together was only ever hinted at until he did something drastic that put them together day in day out without any interruptions from other people. Even that didn't really sit well for they were constantly at odds with each other. As for the characters, there were truly only two of them. The book, though there were secondary characters, rarely brought them into the light. They were sporadic and very limited in appearing. It was as if the world only consisted of Leonidas and Susannah. It made for very stark reading and, therefore did not merit a four-star rating.
